Getting away from the bustle of the city, although we never left. Staycation at Manzil Downtown.

I know the title sounds confusing - how can you get away from the bustle of the city without leaving. But that's exactly what happened at our stay in Manzil Downtown.

Located in a very accessible area, Manzil is a perfect getaway even for those living in the city. Our check in was extremely quick and efficient with our host explaining to us all that our stay had to offer. We were served a refreshing lemon drink while our bags were taken up to the room. Ilyas showed us to the room (aka our home for the night).

Our view from the room

On entering the room we were quiet exicted - a super comfortable queen side bed, a relaxing lounge chair with a foot stool, a small study table area, a shower, a bath tub, the list goes on really!

Here's a glimpse below:

What stood out for me was even tough the decor was minimalist  it had a very homely feel to it, our view from the room overlooked the Dubai mall and the downtown area. It really is the city of lights in the evening.

Since we had arrived earlier than our check in time we headed to the pool side area for lunch. With the fresh orange juice & a passion fruit drink we were definitely ready for our stay-cation.

We even ordered the Manzil Club sandwhich which was easily enough for two people. Mixed meats, egg & lettuce served in a slightly browned sandwich, which was absolutely delicious.

The pool area is extremely relaxing ; perfect for a swim for the guests in the hotel.

Service is extremly quick with food & drink brought to your own lounge chair immediately. Even if swimming isn't your thing, the lounge chairs are a perfect area to sit back relax and maybe even get a tan!

On returning to our room we were surprised to see a delectable keyboard shaped brownie waiting for us, we really want to thank Ava and the chef for the surprise.

Before heading out for dinner to the courtyard, since the weather was good we decided to unwind a bit at Boulevard kitchen, with the scenic view of the Burj - this really was the place to be. the entire area was packed with customers ordering shisha & their favorite nibbles, a perfect place to just relax and unwind.

Karak chai - perfect for the weather!
We then went on to our dinner at Arabian Courtyard (which has both indoor and outdoor seating)

I love how well the decor is themed to this restaurant - gorgeous decorative lighting.

To start off our dinner we ordered the rocca salad which was a tad bit salty, but Abdel (our server for the evening)  was so sweet, he changed it to feta cheese to reduce the salty taste.

The sauteed shrimp was amazing and was immediately wiped off the table.

For the mains we tried the Chicken tagine which is a Moroccan dish. The chicken was so tender it was falling apart from the bowl. The Salmon fillet was seasoned well &  definitely a must try.

The highlight of our meal was definitely the Sticky Date Pudding.

With all that food it was time to call it a night and retire to our super soft bed.

Waking up the next morning wasn't easy since we were so comfortable, luckily Manzil unlike other hotels have their breakfast running till 11am. This is definitely a plus point for those who like me prefer to sleep in.

   Tempted yet?!

We headed to boulevard kitchen for breakfast, we tried the Shashuka eggs & Eggs Benedict, although the Shashuka eggs missed huge points on presentation, it was a ready meal to kick start the day. Pepper, onions & tomatoes almost cooked till a part stew stage was served in a bowl with two eggs placed on top.

All the bakery items were amazing - especially their freshly baked croissants.

Another absolute must try is the french toast with glazed figs, apricots, vanilla creme & cardamon maple syrup.

What we really enjoyed from our breakfast was how simple and not over indulgent the setup was,

Sadly it was then time to depart, but we left completely relaxed. The check out process is just as quick too. Can't wait to be back Manzil!
